Departmental Overview

The Department of Management functions in accordance with the academic framework, statutes, ordinances, and regulations of the University of Mumbai, following the NEP 2020 guidelines and AICTE norms wherever applicable. The department offers the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) programme under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)/NEP-aligned structure, as prescribed by the University of Mumbai from time to time.

The curriculum is designed to develop managerial competence, leadership qualities, ethical decision-making, analytical ability, and effective communication skills. Emphasis is laid on experiential learning, case studies, internships, industry interaction, entrepreneurship development, digital literacy, and skill-based education, preparing students for higher studies, competitive examinations, research, and diverse career opportunities in the corporate, public, and entrepreneurial sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

(As per University of Mumbai & Government of Maharashtra Norms)

Admission to the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) programme is governed by the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University of Mumbai, State Government, and AICTE norms (where applicable).

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.M.S. Degree Course shall have passed H.S.C. Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination or Diploma in any Engineering branches with two years or three years duration after S.S.C. conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or its equivalent examination by securing minimum 45% marks for general category (in one attempt) at the respective Examination and minimum 40% marks for the reserved category (in one attempt).

Preparing students for successful management and leadership roles in business and to generate a group of human capital who are knowledgeable in business and management, as well as technically competent to efficiently and effectively manage a business enterprise and compete internationally.

Mission

The mission of the Management Department is to develop the necessary conceptual skills and practical problem-solving techniques required to manage organizations in a global environment more efficiently and effectively. Students are educated in management fundamentals and methods applicable to better decision making. An emphasis is placed on developing communication skills and on understanding the importance of ethical behavior.
